Parks & Recreation
The Parks & Recreation Department oversees 11 parks, two pools, the Buffalo Road Community Center, the MacDonald Ruff Ice Rink, and the Bryan Parks & Rec Preschool. We provide a variety of recreational and educational opportunities for residents and visitors alike through our events, programming and facilities.
Our Mission
To create strong ties within the Bryan community in order to achieve diverse leisure experiences, to preserve and utilize the natural beauty of our environment, and to enhance the quality of life.
Location & Hours
Our office is located on the second floor of the Don North Municipal Building at 1399 East High Street in Bryan. We are available by phone 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our office is open 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Featured classes include:
CHILDREN’S CRAFT AND ACTIVITY
Children ages 4-8 will love making crafts, dancing, and playing while meeting new friends! They will start with crafts and end with a fun activity to get them moving. There will be different activities at each class, sign up for one or all four classes! There is a limit of 14 children for each class. Children must be registered to attend. Call 419-633-6030 to reserve a spot. Instructor: Courtney Powell

April 13th Spring Theme
TOT LEAGUE BASEBALL
For girls & boys, ages 4 – 6 (by May 1st), this FUN summer league utilizes a batting tee and shortened bases to develop future ball players. Fundamentals (hitting, throwing, fielding, base running, rules, etc.), sportsmanship, and teamwork are stressed more than winning or losing. Registration forms will be available in April on our website or they can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation office. Registration forms will also be available at Kindergarten Registration. Deadline to register is MAY 13th. Games played following the end of the school year. There will be 2 training days then they will play one night a week and on some Saturdays. Fee is $10.00. ATTENTION: ADULT COACHES ARE NEEDED. BASEBALL KNOWLEDGE HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED. CALL 419-633-6030 FOR A FUN EXPERIENCE.
BASIC DOG OBEDIENCE/MANNERS CLASS
(Dogs 5 months and older.) Want to have a better relationship with your dog and have some fun? In this class you will learn how to create a peaceful home environment with your dog aided by instructor, Amy L. Snyder. This Basic Dog Obedience/Manners Class you will not only learn how to train your dog in everyday commands such as sit, stay, and down; you will also learn to prevent or correct some unwanted behaviors. This class is great for the first time dog owners, shelter dogs, or anyone who feels the need for a refresher course. All students must bring a copy of their dogs current vaccination record to the first class. Classes are limited to eight people/dogs to ensure that no one gets lost in the crowd and will run for six consecutive Saturdays. Equipment required for this class is a buckle collar, a 6 foot leather/nylon leash, and a lot of treats. NO CHAIN LEADS!

SAFETY TOWN
Do you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten or Cubdergarten this coming Fall? Will your child have to cross busy streets or have to board a bus on a busy highway? Safety Town is a nationally-acclaimed program which teaches life-long safety habits. Safe travel to and from school, bus safety, fire safety, home safety, water safety, bicycle safety, poisons, and how to deal with strangers will be included in these comprehensive 4 day sessions. Children will become familiar with important vehicles such as a school bus, police car, and fire truck. Safety Town is co-sponsored by the Bryan Civic League, Bryan Police & Fire Departments, and the Recreation Department. The fee is $20.00 per child; which includes a t-shirt. All sessions are held Monday thru Thursday (4 days). Registration forms will be available at Kindergarten Registration in April and at the Parks and Recreation Department Office or on our website. All classes will be held in the East End Community Room at 1400 East High Street, you do not have to be a Bryan resident to participate. If you have any questions call 419-633-6030 . Class sizes are limited to 15 students. Classes will be held the following dates and times:

Bryan Parks & Recreation Preschool
For over 30 years, our preschool program has provided children in Bryan and the surrounding communities with an excellent education.
Classes are offered:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday (4 and 5-year-olds)
8:30-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:30 p.m. - Tuesday and Thursday (3 and 4-year-olds)
9:30-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Spots are available for the 2022-2023 school year, with classes beginning in August. Learn more or register your child by calling 419.633.6030.
Rental Facilities
During the winter, this open-air rink serves at the city’s spot for ice skating and hockey. Park patrons can rent skates during open skate times, which are announced as weather permits. Cross country skis are also available to rent for a small fee and can be used at Recreation Park, which is right next door and provides ample room. During the offseason, the ice rink hosts a variety of events, including the Newlyn Quest club’s annual Barn Fest event each fall. This facility is available to rent. Please inquire for details.
Community Center: 1130 Buffalo Road
Home to many of our classes, the Community Center can also be rented for parties, meetings, baby showers and other events when not in use for a park activity.
This 78-acre park is home to an 18-hole disc golf course, the Imagination Station playground, baseball/softball fields, sand volleyball court, basketball courts, tennis courts and soccer fields. The largest park in the city, Recreation Park has several paved paths that are perfect for biking, walking and running. This park also includes a pavilion and amphitheater that are available to rent.
Moore Park & Pool: 1017 Oakwood Avenue
Home to Moore Pool, this 11-acre park was established in 1937. The pool features a 90-foot water slide, zero depth entry and diving areas. In addition to the pool, Moore Park includes paved paths that are great for walking, biking and running. A shelter house and three pavilions are available to rent.
Established in 1909, this 13.2-acre park includes paved paths, a beautiful pavilion, playground equipment, a baseball field and walking path.
Mattie Marsh Park: 410 E. Trevitt Street
This 1-acre park, established in 1954, is tucked into a residential area on Bryan’s east side. It features a pavilion with restrooms, a basketball court and playground equipment.
Hitt Park: 220 Bement St.
Established in 1956, this 1-acre park is located on the northeast end of the city. It features a pavilion with restrooms, basketball court and playground equipment.
East End Park & Pool: 1400 E. High St.
Home to the East End Pool, this park includes an expansive 33.3 acres and was established in 1976. The pool features a small water slide and diving board. A baseball diamond, basketball court, play equipment and a pavilion provide space to have fun and relax. This park also features six pickleball courts. East End Park is handicap accessible.
Fountain City Park: 925 Union St.
Skateboarders will find plenty to enjoy at this 7.7-acre facility, which was established in 1999 and is home to the city’s skate park and sledding hill.
Central Park: 430 S. Portland St.
What this park lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty. Established in 1997 and comprising a quarter of an acre, Central Park is a serene spot that includes a fountain, gazebo and walking paths.
Israel Gardens Butterfly Park: 1510 Brenner St.
Whether you stroll through or cruise by, this small park offers plenty of beauty. Established in 1997, it is ½ acre.
Maple Grove Park: Jordan Drive
Serene and peaceful, this 10-acre park was established in 1999 and is a wonderful spot for taking in nature.
Roseland Park: 319 E. South St.
Located in the southeast section of town, Roseland Park features room to roam, a pavilion with restrooms, a basketball court, tennis court and playground equipment. It is eight acres and was established in 1970.
