North Pole Calling
“Hello, North Pole Calling” is an annual program offered by the Parks & Recreation Dept., in cooperation with Sorority groups. Would your pre-school or kindergarten son or daughter like to receive a personal phone call from the North Pole? Santa’s elf secretary will first talk to your child, then turn the phone over to Santa himself. Santa will ask what your son or daughter wants for Christmas and encourage conversation. Calling schedule will be Monday, December 1st and Tuesday, December 2nd.

Community Adult Walking Program
With winter putting a halt to many outdoor activities, we encourage area adults to sign up for this great opportunity. Thanks to the Bryan City Schools you will have the opportunity to walk the halls of the Bryan Elementary School during the winter. This activity is for adults 18 and older. Please carry in the shoes that you are planning to walk in, it is important to keep the hallways dry and safe. Please sign up at the Parks and Recreation Department office in the Don North Building to receive your walking pass. All participants must have a walking pass. This is a free activity. Walking will be cancelled when schools are closed for inclement weather and holidays.
This walking program starts January 7th and will run thru March 20th, and is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 PM.
FOUNTAIN CITY SLEDDING HILL
- Use north side only for sledding.
- Check lane for clearance before going down.
- Climb hill on east or west ramps only.
- Immediately clear area after sled ride.
- Watch and avoid other sleds approaching
- No sledding on east or west ramps.
EASTER EGG HUNT
Kids (ages 9 – under), hunt for candy and prizes under the supervision of, his truly, the Easter Bunny. This traditional activity includes plenty of prizes and candy. Kids will divided into 3 age groups and there will be plenty of candy for all. Tickets will be handed out and one winner will be drawn from each age group for a large prize. Kids should bring their own baskets or bags.
The Community Easter Egg Hunt will take place in the Bryan Elementary School gym starting at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 12th.
EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA
Come check out the 11th annual Easter Eggstravaganza at Mattie Marsh Park (in case of inclement weather this event will be held at Eastland Baptist Church). Not only will your child(ren) hunt for sweet treats, they will also discover the sweetest truth ever – why we celebrate Easter. This family friendly event will be a wonderful time, so come taste and see!!!

MASTERPIECE MODELING PROGRAM
Create a sense of accomplishment in building your own interesting project. Based on availability this program includes all types of military vehicles, planes, jets, figures and civilian projects including fire trucks, law enforcement , emergency vehicles and ships/boats. KC Potts will be the instructor. He is a long term member of the International Plastic Modelers Society, has been featured in Museums around the World, has had over 1,500 Clients & Donors since 1980 and has run programs in the Suburban Chicago Park Districts for ages 8-67 for six years. This program will teach you to read and follow directions while creating your own masterpiece. This Class will run for 4 consecutive Tuesday’s and will be held in KC’s shop, 131 Deerfield Circle. All students are encourage to include another family member (Parent, Grandparent, Aunt, Uncle, Etc.) at no additional cost. KC’s hope is that each student will create a lasting connection with the person that they include in the class. Class sizes are very limited so please register early, 419-633-6030.
Students (Ages 7+) will learn the basics of modeling using only beginner safety tools, some filing or sanding, minimal gluing and user-friendly cutting tools. Depending on the skill level, some Students may try water based paints at a very low impact level. All tools, supplies and 2 model kit choices (from our beginner assortment) are included in the fee $45.00. An intermediate level will be available to those that complete this beginners class.

Unlock your Child’s culinary creativity with Mini Chef Classes! Discover the joy of cooking with Miss Courtney. Designed for kids ages 4-10, these sessions offer a perfect blend of fun, learning and hands-on experience. We’ll discover new flavors, make our very own snack and practice safe kitchen skills.

SILLY SCIENTIST * WINTER THEME
Children ages 4-10 put on your lab coat and step into a world of curiosity and discovery. Children will conduct experiments that fizz, fly, stick and even create artwork! This fun filled class is sure to strike the curiosity of every little mad scientist. This class will be held at the East End Community Room (preschool classroom) and will have all new experiments. CHEERLEADING CAMP
For Preschool-6th graders – Would you like to learn cheers and chants? This camp will introduce jumping and arm placement skills needed for cheerleading along with the basic motions. You will then practice these skills through cheers and chants. This camp will run for two nights and follow up with cheering under the Friday night lights cheering with the Bryan Golden Bear Cheerleaders at the basketball game on January 31st.

CHILDREN’S CRAFT &ACTIVITY
(Ages 4-10) We have some fun planned for boy and girls this Fall. They will start with crafts and end with a fun activity to get your children moving. Have your child join instructors Courtney Powell so that they can have fun making crafts, dancing, and playing games while meeting new friends. There will be different crafts and activities at each session, sign up for one or all three! There is a limit of 12 for each session so call early to reserve a spot – 419-633-6030.

YOGA CLASS
Yoga is a great way to calm your mind and relieve stress while increasing your flexibility, strength and balance. You’re sure to learn something new, and at the same time, get rid of that stress you’ve built up throughout the day. Standing, seated and lying poses are included in this class, ending with a deep relaxation. All fitness levels are welcome in this class; although you must be able to climb stairs, for this class is held on the second floor. Bring a towel or mat to class. Instructor, Dawn Davis.

LEISURE WALKING PATHS
There has been a slow but steady growth in the number of Walk-Bike Paths in and around the City of Bryan the past several years. If you haven’t already tried some of these, please take note:
- Recreation Park Trail (half-mile) – begins at Center Street or Moore Park parking lot.
- Recreation Park Loop (.9 mile) – Baseball side loop.
- Memorial Trail (.9 mile) – Soccer Side; accessible from Newdale Drive or Townline Road. On the West side of Newdale Drive.
- Garver Park (.7 mile) The outside loop of the walking paths.
- Mattie Marsh Park (one mile & 1/2 mile) Trail – begins & ends at Mattie Marsh shelter house on Trevitt St.
- Williams & Defiance County Joint Watershed (1.3 mile) Trail – begins in parking lot off County Road C.
WALK, JOG, & BIKE CLUB
Join our members that racked up a combined total of 33,257 miles in 2023. No matter how many walk, jog, or bike miles you total, report them weekly or monthly and earn a prestigious 2025 mileage tee-shirt at the end of the year (your choice of color).

PICKLEBALL
They play a Round Robin style, which mixes everyone up, so please be there and ready to play at the posted times! Expect to play for approximately 2 hours. Days & times for the Social Drop-Ins are (everyone welcome, all skill levels, they are kind to each other!)

East End Pickleball! for times (and feel free to start the conversation each week!). Typically, 3, 4, 5 or 6 p.m.
Come and meet new players and join in on the fun while getting exercise.
There is also a group who are more competitive that play on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5.
Fountain City Amphitheater
The City of Bryan Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank all of 2024 season sponsors, boosters and event attendees of the Fountain City Amphitheater. In 2025 we are looking to host approximately 6 concerts, a variety of family events, comedy nights, story times, fitness classes and worship, as well as continuing to highlight local talent. We will also feature concerts, yoga, and more from May through August, all free!
